Hook, Line and Brambles
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Friday, 31st of May 2019
Lizzie and I trotted over to Mrs T’s to do a bit of weeding.
“A bit of weeding” was something of an understatement. When we arrived we thought she had a mini lawn but it was in fact grass which has completely grown over the patio.
Lizzie bravely tackled the massive brambles whilst I weeded the flower beds and started scraping the moss and grass off the patio. I uncovered an old trowel, a saw and bizarrely, a brand new fishing rod still in it’s plastic wrapper.
Lizzie was quite excited to use the saw on the woody bramble roots but in her excitement managed to accidentally cut through the washing line.
Teamwork was required to remove the carpet of grass, which Lizzie rolled and pulled back whilst I detached it from the ground with a spade.
Lizzie tried to reattach the washing line but realised it was in fact rotten, and was a bit relieved that she hadn’t broken it.
After an hour and a half we’d cleared all but one flowerbed and run out of bin bags!
