For the latest GoodGym run the clouds cleared just in time – after a really wet day the sun came out just in time for us to meet at the Folk House. After a quick introduction and warm up we headed out to our task at the beautiful setting of Ashton Court. We headed through Brandon Hill, pausing for a bit of dynamic stretching and for Chris to demonstrate his Tough Mudder monkey prowess.
We carried on around the harbour, through hotwells and to Ashton Court. We met the Avon Invasive project at the café and then carried on up the hill to the spot where the himilayan balsam is growing. This is an invasive weed that crowds out native species and reduces biodiversity. We got stuck into the satisfying task of pulling out the large weeds, ripping them up and putting them into a pile. We cleared the area in record time, and were ready for the second part of the run.
To finish the run we carried on up the hill, out of Ashton Court and over the magnificent suspension bridge into Clifton. After a quick game of hat shin we headed back down the hill to the Folk House to warm down and stretch off.
As ever it was great to see some new faces as well as our regulars, see you next time!
