Harry Potter and the Order of the Tree-nix
9 GoodGymers made their way to help the Tree musketeers in Hackney.
- Saturday, 1st of December 2018
- Led by Peter Van Tongeren
Nine goodgymers started off a wet December weekend by participating in National Tree Week and getting stuck into some planting on Well Street Common. We joined our friends the Tree Musketeers to plant a total of 10 trees including Elm, Rowan and Whitebeam. Each tree needed to be dug in, staked and guarded to give it a fair chance of life on an east end common. Stapling the guards in place proved tricky at times, not helped by the rain, but the shovelling of mulch on top of the planted trees was a breeze for us Hackney goodgymers, we have a ton(!) of experience in this area. The team were rewarded with tea, homemade cakes, muddy clothes and the pleasure of seeing happy trees in their new home.
