This turned out to be a solo mission. I used active travel by cycling to the SHP Allotments. Sadly due to a mix up Rakesh (permaculture expert) was unable to attend but I did get a long overdue meet up with task owner from SHP Lorena and some of the service users.
Lorena was very pleased with the work we have been doing and we discussed ideas and practicalities for future sessions. It was a real pleasure to work alongside her and to talk to some of the service users, one of them is hoping to become a gardener. We found some Jerusalem artichokes (hence the title of this report) which Lorena had forgotten she had planted but apart from those and the resident strawberry plant most of the beds are to be cleared and covered for the winter. We went on a tour of the rest of the allotments for inspiration which is where we found the huge sunflowers.
All in all a very enjoyable afternoon and I’m hoping to be a part of more sessions like this in the future.

sounds like you had a good time there and great to meet service users!
Yes, it was an eye opener, I can now see how she gets distracted from the gardening and how what’s important is the interaction that goes on during the session.
