A touch of shin splints meant Peggaeggul had to ride the bike of recovery to our task at Manor Woods valley today. Luckily, GG veteran Reggicheggard stepped up to lead everyone there, the extensive experience gained from his unbroken streak of 51 months of Bristol GG group runs standing him in good stead and ensuring that no-one got lost.
Once there, our host Martin introduced us to the previously hidden orchard, now revealed following many months of persistent bramble clearing.
Brambles are nothing if not persistent and Martin explained that their eradication depends on continuously cutting back any that return, ultimately exhausting the roots. We were therefore invited to spend the morning exhausting ourselves in this root-exhausting endeavour.
Of course, as it turned out, this was a very pleasant way to spend an hour in such a beautiful space and we even made it through untroubled by the short sharp showers that have arrived to replace the weeks of heat - Degganeggicegga didn't need her stylish Vietnamese poncho after all.
Top work today everyone, thanks to Eggaleggex for introducing us to the egg name game and to Jegganegg-e for the pun.
