Good deeds pave the walk to Tesco
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Tuesday, 31st of March 2020
I was tasked with buying groceries for Ms M. After a very long and enjoyable walk from home, I reached the beneficiary’s home and rang the doorbell. When she came to the door, we followed Covid-19 protocol and she obligingly threw a (little!) plastic bag in my direction, containing the money I needed for the shop and the shopping list. We went through the list together and I checked any points I wasn’t clear about then I set off to the supermarket. After queuing outside to get in for a few moments (a point of historical interest for the future!) I picked up everything on the list - rang Ms M to check I’d got the right sort of things then paid and left. On returning to Ms M’s property, she took the bags, receipt, change and list and promised faithfully to wash her hands afterwards and thanked me. Mission accomplished!
