Good deeds all round ❤️
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Lewisham.
- Wednesday, 6th of March 2024
It was lovely when I arrived at the social supermarket that the volunteers remembered me! After collecting two bags of goodies, including a freshly cooked curry and a little fruitcake (nice touch!) I made the quick walk over to Ms L’s house.
It was so nice to see Ms L again - I have done this mission a several times now but have not seen her since before Christmas and was wondering how she was getting on. Doing one-off missions is just as rewarding in its own way, but it’s really nice to see the same face every week or month and build up that relationship. Ms L is always so happy and grateful and we enjoy our little chats as I unpack the food and we update on each other’s lives.
Extra thanks to Anna at GG HQ for calling ahead to get the details for me for what items Ms L would like & put it all down in an email for me to make it more accessible. Like many neurodivergent people i have an irrational aversion to using the phone and a poor working memory for verbal information. Within minutes all the info had landed in my email inbox in a way that I would be able to quickly refer to when I arrived at the task. A good deed credit for Anna - thank you! 🙏
