Gone North...
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Wednesday, 17th of June 2020
Today was significant for being my northernmost mission to date...bearing in mind I'd made it as far as the edge of North Hackney means I certainly shouldn't make any claim to be a Shackleton or a Scott, but felt good to expand the horizons a little further...
I'd had the chance to speak with Miss J before the mission just to confirm some of the items on her list and for her to add a couple of extras, provided we stayed within budget. Her local Sainsburys was really quiet, and I was able to grab the last three chunky vegetable soups in the chilled cabinet and everything else she wanted plus her last minute extras and still come in at £19.90 - it was as if she'd done this before!
Was a short walk to Miss J's home - noticeably busy at 10am and felt almost back to pre-lockdown conditions - certainly it seemed there were a lot going to school as I took evasive action to avoid a couple of close encounters with fast moving small people on bikes.
After having spoken on the phone with Miss J, it was great to meet in person and we had a good chat about lockdown and the steps Miss J will try to take to get comfortable about venturing beyond her front door at some point (now certainly wasn't the time in the conversation to point out how proud I was to have made it a little further north up the A10 this morning...).
