Getting in a bit of a prickle
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Wandsworth.
- Sunday, 29th of July 2018
Here's what Ms G of SW18 had to say about the mission:
The three runners did such a great job and even managed to come over in the pouring rain.
Three runners battled across rain, wind, and the Ride London course to arrive at Ms M’s house on Sunday morning.
Ms M’s daughter showed us to the back garden where a veritable jungle awaited us. Not only were we treated to some ginormous spikey brambles, but a cornucopia of wildlife. While Anil was busy snacking on wild blackberrries and befriending grasshoppers, Judith was presiding over the inaugural (I think) GoodGym snail racing championship with 3 slimy friend she found in the brambles. The Catriona snail was definitely the winner.
Down to business, and the well oiled machine that is Team Anil-Judith set about clearing the garden, focusing on the route between the back door and the gate so Ms M can get her wheelchair through. Meanwhile Catriona tried to tame the prickly offcuts to get them into bin bags. They didn’t want to go into bin bags.
An additional set of hands from Ms M’s daughter sped up the process and in little under 2 hours and no less than 14 bags of garden waste there was a clear path to the back gate.
Throughly soggy and in need of some lunch, all that remained was to move all the bags ready for collection by the council and say goodbye. Until next time, Ms M.
