Five go to the Maze

After a lovely and sunny (but chilly) cycle ride along the planets route I met John waiting patiently at the maze as he'd arrived early, underestimating the speed of his new electric bike. Peter had left us the trailer (and key) so we had access to the tools as he was joining us later. We set to work trying to make sense of the maze plan and making sure we were removing turf in all the right places! We had to replace some turf in some of the gaps to make new bits of path between the gravel. Confusingly it seems that the shape of the maze isn't the same as previously (either that or we've got it completely wrong!).
Peter soon joined us and we helped him move the trailer out of the way of his large van so that he could transport it back along the path later. He then got to work carrying all the bags of gravel from the top of the cycle path, down the steps to the maze. Emily and then Nick joined us a little while later so progress sped up. We enjoyed stabbing the bags of gravel and then emptying them into the newly dug paths (hopefully in all the right places!).
I helped Peter with the difficult task of opening the heavy duty bin bags as he was getting frustrated - "It's like being in the supermarket" he said. It was easy for me as I had rubbery gardening gloves on and soon had several bags ready for Peter to empty all the rubbish into.
After almost 2 hours we called it a day but there is still a lot more of the maze to dig out and the paths to re-gravel so I'm sure we will make at least one more trip all the way to Escrick to complete the task.

Progress! and yes it is supposed to be different than before
Hopefully I can make the next community mission here. I love the task and the cycle. York countryside is beautiful, and enhanced by birdsong and the odd family of rabbits. Tray bakes to be tested on Goodgymers too if I can get myself organised; having enjoyed Jude's rocky road and dark chocolate tiffin I shall get the recipes and recreate them for Goodgymers going out to Escrik Sidings:-)
