31 runners made great use of the longest evening of the year by running up Brixton Hill to tidy up a church garden.
This week we headed back to St Margaret the Queen church in Streatham to help Michel tidy up the grounds of the church. He has big plans for the area, including growing vegetables, and had a large delivery of woodchip which needed to be spread around. We made a decent dent in the pile last time we visited but with more left to shift we were back for round two. All kinds of containers including bags, planters, wheelbarrows and holy buckets were employed to ferry the woodchip to its new home. Everyone did a great job and we got the whole lot shifted by the time we left.
Those that weren't on Team Woodchip also helped to tidy the place up. Michel was so impressed with Andy's edging skills that he declared us 'almost like professionals'. Sadly our semi-professional status didn't extend to topiary, John wasn't able to shape a shrub into an exotic animal but it did look a heck of a lot neater by the time he and Rich had finished with it.
Another great evening pounding the streets of Lambeth doing good, something Maya has now done a whopping 50 times. Congratulations on earning your black T shirt Maya!
