Seven runners ran 6km to deliver leaflets for Menphys
Groundhog day! New week, same task as we continued our excellent work from last Tuesday delivering leaflets for Menphys who are hoping to recruit new volunteers for their charity shop. We welcomed back GG Leicester Legend Lindsay who is back in the area for the week and finally fit to run (despite various other mishaps) after a frustrating period of injury in 2019. We heard about Dave and Mel's experience running the hot and hilly Launde 6 over the weekend. Not much jealousy seemed to be emanating from the group!
After Dave led us on a sticky run along the river and back via Bede Park to Narborough Road to grab the leaflets at our starting point, we split into two squads. Dave, Jimmy and Mel took the river side of the road with Lindsay, Sharon, Sheila and Huw hitting the residences between Narborough Road and Fosse Road South. We whizzed up and down the streets, covering a huge catchment area in our time alloted for the task. Super posties the lot of us!
En route back we ran some anti-clockwise laps of Bede Park at a gentle pace with each runner taking turns to run a quick clockwise lap until they rejoined the group, a great effort in far from ideal running conditions!
As we stretched off we shared news of forthcoming tasks for the Canal & River Trust and LOROS, our race next week at Silverstone and a fantastic community mission to mark World Polio Day in October.
We also discussed ways to help promote the group to the wider running community, give us a follow on Twitter (@GGLeicester), like the Facebook page (GoodGym Leicester) and get sharing our news with your friends and followers!
Looking forwards to next week's double header with the Tuesday task and the Wednesday race!
