Disturbing the Peace
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.

Here's what Mrs E of YO32 had to say about the mission:
I had a lovely time with them, they're lovely young people. They did very well for me. I'm very grateful; being in my nineties, it's not a good idea for me to be bending down to do it myself!
2 Goodgymmers ran to help Mrs E with her flowerbeds. The main task was weeding, but thankfully the soil was very sandy and it was very easy to remove any plants. One particularly invasive plant was ground elder, which had an amazing root system, but they all came out super easy. Ellie very much enjoyed digging down to find the roots and then just yanking on them all to pull out all the plants. Once the beds were weeded, Ben excitedly raked them smooth, using the “best rake ever”, which was some nails hammered through some metal and then attached to a pole!
Mrs E takes care of her garden and the soil was very healthy. This meant there were lots of bugs. We disturbed so very many bugs, from hundreds of earthworms, millipedes, ladybirds, woodlouse, and relatively few slugs and snails. Ben even irritated an ants nest and spotted a wasps nest which had been made under the turf at the edge of a flower bed - just in the nick of time as Ellie was about to put her foot in it!!
After apologising to many many bugs, Ben and Ellie bid farewell to Mrs E and breathed a sigh of relief that no one had been attacked by wasps.
