Clearing a path to enlightenment
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.

Here's what Mr B of YO10 had to say about the mission:
Mr S wants to pass on his thanks and to say how pleased he is with the help he received. He applauded the runners who were 'very cheerful in the face of a difficult job!'
Despite having brought our own gardening gloves, we were very happy when Mr B presented us each with a pair of heavy duty welding gloves (coincidentally, in GoodGym red) for our bramble removal task.
The brambles had completely covered the greenhouse, so we took a side each and started cutting away and clearing a path around. As we got further towards the back we found some of the brambliest brambles ever. We lamented on the fact that a flamethrower would be the ideal tool for the job, but probably wouldn't pass any risk assessments.
Eventually we had succeeded in clearing our respective sides and met in the middle, like the meeting of England and France in the drilling of the Channel Tunnel. Daylight!
With the clearing done, we got as many of the brambles as possible in the green bin, giving it a good squash down with a sturdy rake. Mr B came out to admire our handiwork, and he told us all about the travelling around the world that he and his wife had done.
