Welcome Neri. Great to have you on the squad
First up this week was Martha, everyone else trickled in over the next few minutes. Once all had arrived we went out side to do our briefing and warm up. That done we were about to head off when Neri joined us, Welcome Neri. Great to have you on the squad. We were headed for The Irish Causeway in Tottenham Hale. The total distance of the run was 2k but there was a huge job awaiting us. We had been tasked with clearing some back gardens at three of the Irish Causeways houses. The Causeway provides temporary accommodation for the young and homeless.
The team did really well dealing with the all the gardens could throw at them
Once we arrived we got stuck into one of the back gardens, which had become very overgrown along with accumulating lots of rubbish from previous tenants. We also started clearing three of the front gardens, which had lots of rubbish in them. This was due to passers by littering and foxes getting at the rubbish bags. The team did really well dealing with the all the gardens could throw at them. In the end we managed to clear one back garden of most of it’s waste along with cutting back a very over grown tree. Around the front a small but dedicated team cleared the rubbish from the three gardens. Great job everyone!
well and truly in touch with our inner child.
With all our time on the task spent we said our goodbyes and headed to the park around the corner for a fitness session. This turned out to be lots of fun with pairs taking on the slide hill challenge. Shouts out to Paul and Andy who came in first, closely followed by Aidan and Hazel. Everyone put in maximum effort here – good stuff guys!! After the fitness session we had a little play in the park as all of us are well and truly in touch with our inner child.
we went our separate ways to feed the bellies
On leaving the park we stumbled on a little pub with a great name “The Volunteer” Out to Martha for the heads up on that. After a quick pic we set off en route back to HQ, with a sprint finish along the home straight we made it back. Warm down stretches ensued before we went our separate ways to feed the bellies.
Until next week folks stay fit, do good and look out for the light
