Chilli so we don’t get chilly!
1 GoodGymer made their way to help the Food Cycle Luton in Luton.
- Tuesday, 15th of November 2022
- Led by David Mansfield
GoodGymmer Dani made her way to the weekly FoodCycle session, where volunteers come together to cook and serve up a hot meal for anybody who is hungry. The service is attended by guests from a range of different backgrounds and circumstances, and the atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming.
One person arrived after the meal and dessert had been served, but at FoodCycle, nobody who arrives is turned away. The kitchen volunteers whipped up some soup and bread for the latecomer to have as a takeaway, and I made them a hot cup of tea while they waited.
After the guests had finished their food and conversations, it was time to clear up. This involved washing, drying, mopping and general tidying to get the church hall spick and span, ready to be used for the next days activities.
FoodCycle are always looking for additional volunteers, if anyone is considering trying it out I can’t recommend it enough! You won’t regret it.
