What a brilliant evening we've had. Thats what everyone was saying as they returned back to base camp Crooklog the evening.
As usual the Bexley Goodgym team met up at Crooklog sports centre on a very chilly evening. Tonight we were heading out to Park View care home to put our 'Dementia Star' training into practice. Not knowing what to expect we headed on our two mile run to the home. On arrival we were given a lovely welcome by the nurses and carers and then introduced to some of the residents enjoying an evening drink and cake.
It was then we started to mix with the residents for a chat. Some of us started doing puzzles, whilst others like myself just sat and had a really lovely chat. I have not felt like this for a long time. Most our tasks we do are for people that are not there at the time, but this evening i really experienced first hand the good we were doing. Yep, just by engaging in conversation you could see and feel how the residents evening had been up lifted by our presence. Let me tell first hand how rewarding that felt. It felt bl^^dy awesome!!!
IT FELT BL^ ^DY AWESOME!!!
The time passed so quickly this evening so it was soon time to shake hands and say our goodbyes. Tonight was a good night and yes our teeth were chattering a lot outside in the cold, but also a lot inside in the warmth. What an awesome evening. Thanks Goodgym Bexley team............
