Changing Rooms with Smiley GoodGymmers
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Newham.
- Monday, 4th of January 2016
First GoodGym mission of 2016! 3 runners popped over to the Isle of Dogs to do a spot of interior design. Mrs R needed her bed moved out and room rearranging to make space for a new hospital bed.
We were met by Mrs R’s kindly neighbour who orchestrated the mission, directing us on how to arrange the furniture in preparation for the new bed. Before we knew it, GoodGym stalwart Beth H had already whisked away the old mattress, and there was a real risk she would complete the whole task single-handed. Fortunately she’s a kindly soul, and charitably conceded to leave some work for Vicki and me. Vicki took on the role of safety inspector and visually PAT tested the electricals, removing a suspicious looking 4-gang plug. I just posed for photos with my luminous shirt looking too big.
After much debate brought on by the usual lack of plug points for lamps and TVs, and a bit of co-ordinated shuffling whilst juggling TVs and aerials, we rearranged the room to everyone’s satisfaction. And in record time, too! This was great news, as it meant Vicki and Beth could head over to GoodGym Islington for 1st birthday celebrations, and I could pop to Tower Hamlets to cover my trainers in compost. A pretty good start to a GoodGym record-breaking January!
