Catch ups over water butts
13 GoodGymers made their way 6.8km to help the Seniors in Lewisham.
- Monday, 28th of March 2022
- Led by Kim Parker
Our first group run since the clocks went forward and we were making the most of the extra hour and heading to one of our favourite (and furthest away) tasks - Seniors!
We haven't had the opportunity to help in the garden for a long time and we were looking forward to getting the difficult tasks done. There was a variety of tasks to pick from, including:
- planting seedlings (we're used to digging and weeding, delicate seedling planting was a welcome change)
- transporting the water from the water butt at one end of the garden to the water butt in the ploytunnel. This task involved multiple trips with watering cans, allowing plenty of time for catching up whilst the watering cans filled
- digging an area for wildflower seeds
- moving rubbish from the basement to the bins
- digging one of the beds ready for growing vegetables
We completed all the tasks before we lost all daylight and had time for a read through the newsletter which had a lovely write up about us on the back page!
We'll be heading back to Seniors at the beginning of May.
