A 6 mile round trip awaited us. Who would step up to the challenge of this longer run? 14 people, that’s who! We ran up to the beautiful Easton Community Garden. Like a treat that’s to be savoured and not had to often, every second at this lush oasis in busy Bristol is to be treasured. We were even greeted by a cheeky urban fox as we left the Bristol to Bath Cycle Path and dived in to the great green garden.
The amazing energy and enthusiasm of Good Gym people never fail to impress, and with only 15 minutes to destroy an old bench, pull up some strawberry plants, water some leeks, move some planks and shift a massive pile of bricks, that energy was needed! Everyone worked their socks off, and all our tasks were done in good time. With a few moments for a quick look around for the newbies, and a team photo, we were running out of daylight.
All too soon we had to leave, and began the ever so slightly downhill run back to the Folk House where they had the lights on and we stretched in the warm red glow of the the ‘I’m Staying’ artwork.
Chaps and chapesses – bravo and thank you all for your attendance. It was great to meet the new people, lovely to see some long time regulars, and fab to see those people who’ve been to three or four.
P.S My camera was clearly stuck on 'blurry' mode on Tuesday evening! Sorry about the photos. I like to call them action shots and blame it on the fact that everyone was working so fast that they were like streaks across the lens!
