Bedtime Stories on the Night Shift
4 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Bristol.
- Monday, 17th of September 2018
Four GoodGym runners answered the call for an emergency mission on Monday evening to enable Mr J to be discharged from hospital. Out went the call and up stepped Clo, Zdeni and Charlene to join me in Henleaze for a bit of shifting.
The plan was to move Mr J's hospital bed from his bedroom upstairs down to the living room, but first we had to make space downstairs to do so. All sounded pretty straightforward until we arrived to find the house full of books, Mr J being an archaeologist and an avid collector of published works.
No matter, our crack team had soon moved piles of books from downstairs up into the bedroom, the settee outside for collection, before dismantling the bed and taking it downstairs and getting it reassembled. This left more space to move even more piles of books upstairs, all the while chatting with each other and our lovely hosts who were clearly impressed by how light we were making the heavy work look.
An hour later, we'd got the home ready for Mr J to return too - great strength, organisation and teamwork all round and lots of laughs along the way.
High impact, great fun - job done!
