For Wednesday’s GoodGym Bristol run we headed out along the Bristol to Bath Cycle Path to Easton Community Allotment. We met as usual at Roll for the Soul, and after a warm up in Castle Park set a good pace.
At the Allotment we met Christina who showed us around. The Community Allotment is an amazing place, which has transformed derelict land into a beautiful and productive allotment. Food is grown collectively, anyone can drop in and help out, and take some produce home with them.
We then set to work on the task which was to clear brambles and weeds away from the fence. In just 30 minutes we chopped, snipped, lopped and ripped up the vegetation.
There was just enough time to feast on some apples and raspberries, stuff some more apples in our pockets and head home.
For next week’s run we’re heading back to the allotment. They’ve got a big load of compost being delivered and our task will be to barrow it to the all of the raised beds in the allotment. There’s loads to do so the more the merrier!
