Ahoy there!
9 GoodGymers made their way 5.0km to help their local community in Greenwich.
- Wednesday, 6th of April 2016
- Led by Rachel Henry
We did ran around Greenwich with a purpose this week- promoting the 'Oarsome Challenge' for the Ahoy centre.
The guys at the Ahoy centre are a pretty inspiring bunch. They aim to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds and adults with learning difficulties; helping them develop citizenship & life skills through water based activities on the Thames. They also offer a range of courses, activities, and training opportunities to help them find future employment.
They raise money to continue these activities through Summer long 'Oarsome Challenges', with challenges from 5-23miles. You can take part too. Check out the link to the website here.
Team flyer handout
We split into 2 teams with a stack of roughly 400 flyers each. One group went one way towards Cutty Sark, the others went towards the Trafalgar Pub and Maze Hill. Each had 30mins to hand out as many cards as humanely possible! They both smashed it, legging it up to the meeting place without a single leaflet left over!
Repping the hills
We finished off the evening with a hill session around Greenwich Park- practising some sprints up and down the climbs. Corking stuff. Nice one everyone.
