A Job “Willes Done” from the Brent Newbie Crew
7 GoodGymers made their way 5.0km to help their local community in Brent.
- Monday, 5th of January 2015
Willesden Sports Centre was left “Long – Jumping” for joy after a visit from the Brent GoodGym Crew on Monday night. For the first ever introductory session the team knocked out a 5k run around Brondesbury Park then headed back to the Centre to tackle the “A-SAND-doned” pits which had been left to ruin with leaves, litter and debris galore.
With nothing but positive vibes the team set to work, clearing, raking, sweeping & stuffing. We loaded our mounds of bin bags into skips and shuttle ran back for more. Working side by side, with the cold nipping at our finger tips, there were no complaints or moans, all content in the knowledge that our hard work meant the community could use this space once more.
After 40 minutes of Back-RAKING work we had finished and to the teams delight there was just enough time to get a couple of fast paced track circuits in before we collapsed and called in a night.
Ellie Wood the new run leader for Brent said:
“It was certainly an awesome way to "RAKE the ice" on our first session. I can only say a "ThouSAND" thank yous to the awesome vibes that the team brought, I can't wait for next week!!!!"
