A binding agreement
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Bristol.
- Saturday, 14th of September 2019
Saturday's sunshine set a superb scene for Roz and myself as we tidied up Mrs V's garden.
I met Roz at Mrs V's address, having come straight from some parkrun tourism at Chipping Sodbury. Mrs V greeted us at the door and let us in to her magnificent rear garden, which impressed the two of us. She explained that she had been living in this beautiful home for 25 years!
Roz got to work cutting the hedges back into shape, while I pulled bindweed from a nearby patch. After some delicate effort making sure not to disturb other plants while pulling the weed out, Mrs V pointed out to me that the plants were all dead and could be pulled out anyway. Well that made my job easier at least!
Roz on the other hand had to choose the harder option. Choosing between hedge trimmers and reguar sheers, Roz chose the sheers, due to health and safety, even though this made her job take significantly longer!
As we worked we spoke about plans for future races, and Mrs V told us about her time here.
Once it was ready to leave, we cleared up our mess and went cycling off into the distance. There is still plenty to be done here, but we did manage to fill four bags of garden waste and we look forward to coming back and admiring Mrs V's garden even more!
