Shouts out to Emily who joined us for her first GGH session
Dark nights have well and truly set in along with a slight drop in temperature. New running gear was discussed by on or two GGrs while other spoke of race day and before you know it we’re ready to head out for briefing, warm and warm up welcome – shouts out to Emily who joined us for her first GGH session.
people paired up then dashed off to find a bench to stain
This week we introduced some music to our session with a portable speaker. This went down a treat and had people reciting song lyrics from the get go. We arrived at our task in no time at all and the energy in the group was at good levels. We quickly dished out gloves, paintbrushes, wood stain, wet paint signs and maps before people paired up then dashed off to find a bench to stain. We managed to get four benches stained before congregating atop of the hill over looking the Hub Café. All in one place the music seemed to work wonders with people jiving and rhyming along with discussions on themed runs and novelty playlists. We even got a dance from Dashing Dave who’s not really the musical type. With only a few minutes the music changed in pace, energy and intensity as did the workflow. The track responsible for the increased vigor was Bloc Party – Helicopter managed to get another bench done bringing the total to five benches.
High fives were had by all
We were running a little behind on time so a fitness session commenced while brushes were cleaned and gear packed away. High fives were had by all at this point. That done we were off again in the direction of HQ – music and all. With a quick sprint up a nice gradient in the park before our usual pace increase along Philip Lane and a sprint finish behind us we got warmed down and were done for the evening.
